Great promo vid! I have the book awaiting in my kindle, excited to read when I can <3
Thanks. Glad you liked the video. I feel awkward watching it myself. ~.~
No-one likes to see themselves on film! :p
I think it’s my voice in particular. Always hated the way my voice sounds. But would you believe I once recorded a rap album? Lol.
The book looks great! And you’re not alone: most people hate way their voice sounds, because you own voice always sounds deeper from inside your head. I think you sounded just fine, although boy, that wind really does play havoc with the recording, doesn’t it? It wasn’t so bad that I couldn’t hear, though. I liked that you chose that location, and the added historical info, but that’s a good heads-up about the challenge of filming outside that I’d never thought of.
It was much worse that what you saw. After editing, I ran the video through an equalizer to isolate my voice from other noise and to boost the volume. On the raw video you can’t make out what I am saying at times. So extra caution about location, yeah. I didn’t have much choice. It was the only day we were going to go sightseeing in Seoul for a while. Turned out to be one of the coldest days of the month!
So there’s another lesson: before I try a video, find someone to help me who knows what an equalizer is. 🙂 Although this is pretty far away: I need to finish the book first!
In addition to knowing how to use an equalizer, you need to know what frequency the typical human voice is, so you know what frequency range to enhance and what to cut out. 😀 But yes, book comes first!
First things first, yes! But it’s good to be thinking ahead and know what’s around the next few corners.
